The Launch of Paper Canoe

PaperCanoe aims to bring significant printed works to new devices and audiences.

The mass digitization of older books has mostly been done in an automated fashion to date, with little if any focus being given to formatting and editing specifically for the digital formats. Wonderful projects like Gutenberg have scored Herculean outcomes, but older books with great illustrations or more complicated formatting are getting the short shrift in text-only or automated formats.

The awesome viewing experiences of electronic devices ache for better conversions. And that’s what PaperCanoe is aiming to do. We’re just getting started — please let us know what you think.
